Operations Business Manager - Cavan

My client, a well-established Manufacturing Civil engineering company based in Cavan, has an opening for an experienced Operations Business Manager to join their team.

The Operations Manager has overall responsibility for the coordination, management, and delivery of assigned projects, ensuring they are completed profitably, safely, on time, and to an acceptable standard whilst maintaining and promoting strong client relationships.

They will ensure the most effective and efficient utilisation of people and resources required for the duration of the project. The Operations  Business Manager will be assigned to multiple live projects but will also be involved in the pre-construction stages of projects and post-construction issues that may arise after practical completion.

What you’ll do

• Own multiple contracts from pre-start to final account: resourcing, RAMS, permits, quality, and handover.
• Plan and coordinate labour, plant, materials, and traffic management to hit programme and budget.
• Lead HSEQ on site: build a proactive safety culture, conduct inspections/audits, and ensure compliance with RAMS and legislation.
• Develop the market: hunt new opportunities, build frameworks, upsell higher-value treatments, and widen our scope with existing clients (e.g. studs, HFS, line removal, ancillary civils).
• Manage commercials: valuations, variations, forecasts, and margin; keep the documentation, programming and compliance spotless.
• Represent the business: be the face of our values with clients, councils, and stakeholders.

What you’ll bring

• Civils/highways project delivery experience (contracting or client side).
• Strong planning & site delivery skills; comfortable with asphalt/surfacing or similar works.
• Commercial fluency (valuations, variations, budgets, forecasting).
• Relationship builder with a hunter mindset — you spot and convert opportunities.
• Knowledge of Irish public works routes (PWC) and/or NEC is a plus.
